How long does it usually take for a person to get addicted to vicodin?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on January 27, 2012
I have been taking vicodin for two weeks now and I think I may be addicted to it. What can I do to help myself and how can my doctor help me? serious answers only please. Thank You!
Chosen Answer:
I’m a nurse. I would talk to the doctor about it. Your’e not far along as many people. You can simply chose not to take them. Most people take them for a very long time and later realize they have a problem. I think you are fine. It took you only two weeks and you realized, hey this could be a problem. My advice is to discontinue the use of it . You will later noticed that you caught the problem right before the addiction happened. Your’e fine, after all this isn’t what you wnat to do and your’e not in denial, that’s great. Be strong during this time, you can do it, I know you can.

What pain relief did you have in childbirth?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on January 24, 2012
I am only about 5-8 weeks along and already thinking about this. What pain relief did you have and did it help? also what are you views on having an epidural for a calm birth? Thanks for all answers x
Chosen Answer:
i had an epidural both times. the first was very unpleasant- couldnt feel my legs at all, made me very jittery and shaky, and by the time i was almost ready to push, it had mostly worn off. still had a LOT of pain at that point, but baby came out fine. afterwards though, when i finally stood again, i was super dizzy and nauseous.
the second time, complete 180. epidural was perfect, numb enough to dull the pain, but i was still able to move my legs on my own, could feel thing, etc. had NO pain, no dizziness, no nausea. was even able to laugh and joke between pushes. very relaxing calm enjoyable birth. plus the second baby was 9 lbs! it was excellent!

During Labor is there any other type of pain relief besides an epidural?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on January 10, 2012
I am allergic to codiene and the epidural so is there any other type of pain relief i can get during labor?
With my first child i was in labor for 16 hours!! I am only 13 weeks pregnant with my second and just want to be prepared this time if the pain gets to be too much!
Chosen Answer:
Sure you can try the gas, but it can make you spin out and a little dizzy but it is short lasting so you will feel normal again within minutes. Also you can either have pethidine or morphine, i’m not sure if they contain codeine so you might have to check on that. But those are the 3 most common pain relievers apart from an epidural to use during labour and delivery. Hope this helped..

How long does it take for Vicodin to leave your system?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on January 7, 2012
Am looking for a job and had an accident two weeks ago. I was prescibed Vicodin for pain and am taking very little as I don’t want it to show up on pre-employment screening. I understand that it is acceptable if you are prescribed the med, I’m just curious about how long it stays in your system. Is it like nicotine, where it takes two weeks to be Nic free?
Chosen Answer:
Opiates stay in your system for 1-3 days, sometime 5 if you have a slow metabolism. But if you are prescribed vicodin and your employer knows this, then you don’t have anything to worry about.

Is topical application of pain relief balm is harmful for my baby?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on December 10, 2011
I am 18 weeks pregnant. Sometimes I experience a stabbing pain in my right side lower back, which does not allow me to walk or to move. The pain is like joint paint between two bones (as there is some deficiency of lubricant between the two bones). I am using Omnigel and getting relief. But I am anxious and want to know whether it has any bad effect on my baby. Please throw some light on this.
Chosen Answer:
yes i agree with the other answer but you could consult you pharamasist–also you could be suffering from sciaitica some women experiance this in pregnancy…seek medical attention as you are 18 weeks and this could get worse as you go along in you pregnacy good luck with you and baby

Pain relief?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on November 23, 2011
I am 39 weeks and 3 days and I’m expecting him to come anytime soon but I can’t make my mind up about pain relief during labor. What did you take or did you go natural? I’m scared of an epidural, but I’m also scared of pain!
Chosen Answer:
I am totally with you!
I am going to make the decision on the epidural when I am in the hospital and actually feeling the pain. I won’t know exactly how bad the pain is until I actually feel it…so I am just going to stay open about it. I don’t want to dismiss the epidural all together and think I can go all natural, without knowing whatthat pain feels like…no matter how scared I am of getting an epidural.
