What is some good food for someone recovering of a Vicodin overdose?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on April 29, 2012
I had surgery a few days ago, and my doctor suggested I double my dosage of Vicodin to control the pain. I did, found out my body can’t handle that much, and I’ve been terribly sick since late Friday night. I think I’m finally coming out of this thing, but since I haven’t eaten/drank much in over 24 hours, I was thinking I should maybe consider some food. Any suggestions on what food might be good for this situation?
Chosen Answer:
It sucks and you have about 48 hours left of this. Just eat whatever will taste good coming back up cause no matter what you eat, you will get sick. Soups are easy to throw up.
Not making fun of you in any way, I did the same unfortunate thing once and its awful
get well

How soon can someone become addicted to Vicodin?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on April 28, 2012
I’ve been taking Vicodin for three days for an injury to my face/nose. I’m still in pain, but I’m afraid to take too much Vicodin and become addicted. The doctor gave me 30 pills and I have about 15 left. Can a person become addicted that soon? Should I ask for something else for pain? Motrin 800 doesn’t help with the pain yet.
Actually, I have 12 pills left, so I’ve taken 18 pills in 3 days.
Chosen Answer:
Okay, calm down. In order to develop a dependence for an opiate drug you would have to be taking it constantly in high doses for at least a month. You can most certainly finish that entire bottle, whether it be in 3 days, or in a month and you will be fine. Vicodin is not a strong form of hydrocodone and will not make you become addicted fast. I am an X addict and trust me it takes many many more pills and much more time. You are safe.

How long would the noticable effects of 400mg of vicodin last?

How long would the noticable effects of 4000mg of vicodin last?
I took like 4 1000 mg pills or somewhere ariund there and it helps the pain, and I want it to keep going without pain. so when should I take more and how much?
Chosen Answer:
First of all there is no such thing as 1000mg vicodin or 100mg pills, 400 or 4000mg would kill you, you must have taken 10mg for a total of 40mg which is a lot, usually it is 10mg 4-6 hours as needed, the light headedness goes away shortly but the pain killing effect should last at least 6 hours, you do not have to feel light headed in order for them to work, but if you take such high amounts you can damage your liver because of the tylenol (acetaphomen) and also build your tolerance and cause it to not be so effective, I would recommend that you follow the directions on the bottle, this way it will be safer as well as help your prescription last, if you run out you will not be able to refill another prescription too soon.

How long to become addicted to vicodin?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on April 25, 2012
I indulge two vicodin ES pills at once for depression. I wait at least a week, then take another two pills whenever I experience despair. Would it possible to become physically addicted taking them this seldom? I’ve only heard experiences of people taking them daily and becoming addicted. Also, is taking two vicodin ES at once safe as far as acetaminophen goes?
Chosen Answer:
See a doctor and get his advice. I hope this is a doctor’s prescription and if so ask him. If not, stop taking the drug and see one. It’s too dangerous to use drugs like that without medical advice.

Vicodin helps, but sometimes is not enough to handle pain (yes you can take it with antibiotics.
For the best pain control (as long as you aren’t allergic) you should take 4 tablets of advil (like prescription strength motrin) taken every 6 to 8 hours AND take 1 vicodin PLUS one regular tylenol (Vicodin has the equivalent of one tylenol in it. Who takes 1 tylenol for anything??) Seems like alot, but you’ll be hammering at the pain in 3 different ways. You may only need to do this for 3 doses or so. Then you’ll graduate off of the vico, then off the tylenol, and finally, you’ll be able to space out the advil and/or cut it down to 400 mg.
When I have my patients do this, they come back so happy that the whole thing was so painless (I get them started on the advil while numb)
Good luck!

What are the odds of a person with vicodin and soma getting off of them in a rehab facility that they chose?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on April 21, 2012
The person has chronic pain after 2 neck surgeries within last 4 years, but realizes that she is going to lose her life and family family if she continues to stay stoned all of the time (especially on the soma). She chose a facility, but I’d like to know if others have experience in this area. I think she was taking about 10 soma and 15 – 20 vicodin, but hard to tell since addicts lie so much. Any experience in this area or data would be great. Thank you?
Chosen Answer:
Pain management and addiction can be tricky. If she wants to get clean, by all means, support her. But she will need alternate pain treatments. I would suggest she try accupunture, various physical therapies/messages, and naturopathic treatments. I’m sure it would be helpful if you got the information on local treatments for her.
Good luck.

When I take Vicodin, I get a feeling that relieves my social anxiety and my constant tiredness?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on April 20, 2012
And mild to moderate pain. However, before I become addicted, I have stopped taking them. I am looking for something over-the-counter that can help me relieve some of those problems, mainly the sad. Is there anything similar to Vicodin that is not as bad? A vitamin perhaps? Thanks.
Chosen Answer:
Well..that’s the down side to taking opiates for many people…they make us feel so good, but at the same time they are so dangerous. It’s a no win situation either way,and no there really isn’t a medication that will give you the same effect that Vicodin does. It’s the opiate in the Vicodin that is making you feel this way…relaxing, mellow and for many people(including myself) it can give an energetic feeling. The best thing that you can do is stop taking the Vicodin…PERIOD!!! I’m not to sure about any over-the-counter medications/vitamins you can take, but nothing will give you the same effect the Vicodin does.Just steer clear of it….Good luck to you.

How long does vicodin stay in your system?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on April 17, 2012
I did a urine test at my Dr’s office today and the results showed no vicodin in my system which I take on a regular basis. I do drink lots of water, could this be a factor.? I was accused of maybe selling my vicodin. The test will be sent out to a drug testing site which will take days to come back. Thank youa !

Pretty much everyone agrees 3-5 days depending upon your individual metabolism. Also some posters say that it doesn’t show in urine at all.

Vicodin..??
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on April 14, 2012
How do you get a prescription of them???
they are the only thing that helps my back pain! But what if the doc tries to give me something else??
Chosen Answer:
I know how you feel it seems every time I throw my back out they always make me feel like I’m faking it to get pills……unfortunately alot of people do that. Vicodin is an addictive narcotic doctors don’t like to prescribe it for just moderate pain. I have found that my lower back pain is muscle related and my doctor prescribed me muscle relaxers which have helped a ton. Maybe just ask your doctor for a small prescription of Vicodin only for when you really need them.
