How do you kinow if you are addicted to Vicodin?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on March 23, 2012
I had a serious surgery on my foot 6 months ago and I have been taking Vicodin ever since. I know I still need it because my pain gets pretty bad sometimes when the medicine wears off. But, when the time comes and the doctor says I don’t need anymore, what’s going to happen to me?
I forgot to tell you that I am afraid to ask my doctor because he will think I need to get off of it and I’m not ready!
Chosen Answer:
If you feel that you need to take the vicodin to live. He should wean you off of it. Maybe you should see a pain management Doctor. 6 months is a long time for u to be still having alot of pain in that foot. Its possible that your body has become dependant on the vicodin. Which is different than addiction.
Addiction hapens when u take it when u dont need it, u take it for the high. Dependancy happens because u have been on it for so long and your body is used to having it. So that is what you will have. your doc. will need to wean you off slowly to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
I personally think u need a pain med that last longer than the vicodin, especially if u are having alot of pain in that foot. Could be u have some nerve damage. I suggest seeing a pain specialist.

pain relief.?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on March 10, 2012
I play football and work out. I have practice every day. witch over the counter pain pills will work the best. I have tried Ibuprofen (Advil) and it works pretty good. but what about Tylenol or any other pain pills. I am 140 pounds how much can I take. I have always followed the labels and I don’t plan not to but I am just wondering.
I do not take meds every day olny about 2-4 a week
Chosen Answer:
You can take up to 800 mg of Ibuprofen at a time every 6 to 8 hours. Naproxin may help, you take 2 at first and then 1 more as needed every 8 hours. And for tylenol you should only take 2 500 mg tablets at a time, about every six hours. Sometimes alternating between the three works the best, then your body doesn’t build up a tolerance to any of them.

How can one live after drinking 190 proof alcohol mixed with red bull and vicodin?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on February 23, 2012
My friend confessed to me about her drug and alcohol habit. She is petite and can’t weigh more than 110lbs, but she tells me that when she is depressed she drinks 190 proof alcohol mixed with Monster Energy and pops 1-2 vicodin pills.
I know that she can really put away liquor, but how is she still okay? Does this mean that she has built a high tolerance over time? Also, what can I do to help her as she is 22 and an adult?
Chosen Answer:
you could take her to see a drug counselor or you could tell her parents tell her of your concerns just because she is an adult doesn’t mean she still doesn’t need help getting through life. Ask her what makes her so depressed that she feels she needs to drink so much and use drugs. If you don’t help her now in reality the drug abuse can eventually start shutting down her organs and clearly she could eventually become immune which if she went to the er and needed help the drugs they give her might not work. sometimes people need a slap for a wake up call

What pain relief tablets are good for trapped nerves in neck/shoulder. Please help?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on February 14, 2012
My dad has had a bad shoulder since Wednesday, he went to the doctor on Thursday and he told him he had a trapped nerve and prescribed him Tramadol, but this has many side effects and doesn’t really numb the pain for him.
He is in a lot of agony so i wondered if anyone has experienced this and/or has any advice on pain relief and if you know what sort of time it could take to subside. I will pass on any answers
Thank you !
Chosen Answer:
Tramadol is a horrid drug and can cause side affects that are very unpleasant.
Often they will prescribe a mix of drugs for nerve pain which work much better but this involves prescription strengh Co codamol and others that take time to work. Which is why they Doctors go for a hard hitting one to start with.
Might actually get some relief from a painkiller that is an anti inflammatory as well. A pharmacist will be able to help you and advice you on the drugs sold from behind the counter.
In theory as it is a trapped nerve it should be a short term problem and is best relieved by being proactive and paying to see a physiotherapist or chiropracter as quickly as possible.

How long does it usually take for a person to get addicted to vicodin?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on January 27, 2012
I have been taking vicodin for two weeks now and I think I may be addicted to it. What can I do to help myself and how can my doctor help me? serious answers only please. Thank You!
Chosen Answer:
I’m a nurse. I would talk to the doctor about it. Your’e not far along as many people. You can simply chose not to take them. Most people take them for a very long time and later realize they have a problem. I think you are fine. It took you only two weeks and you realized, hey this could be a problem. My advice is to discontinue the use of it . You will later noticed that you caught the problem right before the addiction happened. Your’e fine, after all this isn’t what you wnat to do and your’e not in denial, that’s great. Be strong during this time, you can do it, I know you can.

What pain relief did you have in childbirth?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on January 24, 2012
I am only about 5-8 weeks along and already thinking about this. What pain relief did you have and did it help? also what are you views on having an epidural for a calm birth? Thanks for all answers x
Chosen Answer:
i had an epidural both times. the first was very unpleasant- couldnt feel my legs at all, made me very jittery and shaky, and by the time i was almost ready to push, it had mostly worn off. still had a LOT of pain at that point, but baby came out fine. afterwards though, when i finally stood again, i was super dizzy and nauseous.
the second time, complete 180. epidural was perfect, numb enough to dull the pain, but i was still able to move my legs on my own, could feel thing, etc. had NO pain, no dizziness, no nausea. was even able to laugh and joke between pushes. very relaxing calm enjoyable birth. plus the second baby was 9 lbs! it was excellent!
