What’s the best pain relief thing for back/rib bruising?

I hurt my back 2 days ago due to blanking and falling down the stairs and last week I blanked and fell flat on my back without bending of my knees as I have epilepsy. Not been to hospital as I know I can care for myself at home… However my back is killing me! The pain is disabling me from doing things. In the middle on the left in particular, I do have a slight shade of darkening across my upper back also, most probably bruising… any ideas on great pain relief please???

Hi
People always try and answer questions such as this will lotions, exercises, massage or alike.

Although these are all good remedies one of the important things to mention is how you use your back throughout the day to prevent this from happening or your condition deteriorating.
Make sure you are not aggravating your back at work. Your employee has the legal obligation to protect your health and safety which includes your back.

If you’re lifting heavy items, doing repetitive tasks, driving long distances or sitting for prolonged periods in the same position you may add to the injury you have caused. Ensure you have the precautions in place to protect the posture of your back.

Is an epidural a safe form of pain relief in labor?

I am considering using an epidural. My previous children were all born with no pain relief at all. I am having my last and am considering avoiding the pain. I do not want to put myself or the child in harms way.

Chosen Answer:

They are MOSTLY safe. I opted for an epidural when my daughter was born, and they had to place the needle twice (be forewarned that this isn’t uncommon if you’re overweight) which was NO fun. Getting the epidural was the worst part of my labor experience, although it did help with the pain relief. However, it also caused my baby’s heart rate to PLUMMET just minutes after the epidural was in. Thank God it came back up fairly quickly, but it gave the nurses a good scare (not to mention me!) So it’s not without its risks, but it is MOSTLY safe.

For what it’s worth, there are lots of natural methods of pain relief – massage, hypnotherapy, water, birthing ball, etc – that are also supposed to be great methods of pain relief during labor. Having been there and done that, I do plan to try for an unmedicated delivery next go round!

How long does it usually take for a person to get addicted to vicodin?

I have been taking vicodin for two weeks now and I think I may be addicted to it. What can I do to help myself and how can my doctor help me? serious answers only please. Thank You!

Chosen Answer:

I’m a nurse. I would talk to the doctor about it. Your’e not far along as many people. You can simply chose not to take them. Most people take them for a very long time and later realize they have a problem. I think you are fine. It took you only two weeks and you realized, hey this could be a problem. My advice is to discontinue the use of it . You will later noticed that you caught the problem right before the addiction happened. Your’e fine, after all this isn’t what you wnat to do and your’e not in denial, that’s great. Be strong during this time, you can do it, I know you can.
