how many vicodin does it take to over dose? no im not suicidal, far from it but my friend just got a prescription for it a few days ago because of back problems anyways in just two days ive seen her spiral down… shes never used drugs before and rarely drinks.. i saw her take 5 in one hour than 5 a few hours later… so what is the typical over dose amount?? if she doesn’t chill out with using i will talk to her relatives and let them know what i know because i am concerned. thanks.

i once in my darkest days of heroin addiction took 72 vicodin in one hr. I wasn’t suicidal just severely addicted to opiates. It sounds like the wonderful feeling the vicodins give has grabbed your friends attention and she has taken a liking to them. she better be very careful, while overdose on vicodin is kind of rare, they do start the process of opiate addiction.

if i vomit 45 minutes after taking strong period pain relief medication can i take another dose?

I had really bad period pain this morning and took some strong period pain relief medication but 45 minutes later I threw up, the medication seems to have helped a tiny bit but I really need more relief. Can I take the dose again or could that do more harm than good?

Nausea and vomiting are two of the most common side effects of opioids such as hydrocodone, codeine, oxycodone, and morphine.
Most of the medication has already been absorbed in 45 minutes, so it would not be advisable to take another dose until 4-6 hours after taking the first pill.
To help with the nausea and vomiting, you can take Dramamine or Benadryl. These medications work very well to treat and prevent nausea and vomiting from opioid painkillers. They will make you quite a bit more drowsy however, so don’t take it if you need to drive, operate machinery, or anything else that would be dangerous if you are drowsy.
Non-drowsy alternatives would be Pepto-Bismol or cola syrup (available at any pharmacy). Mint also works well — try some mint tea.

How long does it usually take for a person to get addicted to vicodin?

I have been taking vicodin for two weeks now and I think I may be addicted to it. What can I do to help myself and how can my doctor help me? serious answers only please. Thank You!

I’m a nurse. I would talk to the doctor about it. Your’e not far along as many people. You can simply chose not to take them. Most people take them for a very long time and later realize they have a problem. I think you are fine. It took you only two weeks and you realized, hey this could be a problem. My advice is to discontinue the use of it . You will later noticed that you caught the problem right before the addiction happened. Your’e fine, after all this isn’t what you wnat to do and your’e not in denial, that’s great. Be strong during this time, you can do it, I know you can.

What happens if you take a vicodin pill for no reason?

My girlfriend got in a car accident and she got some vicodin pills. What would happen if I took one? The only thing wrong with me is that I feel a slight back pain from daily activity(so nothing i wrong with me really). I’m 21 by the way. So what happens if you take this while not needing it?
I guess Ill wait till I get my wisdom teeth taken out later this week.

It makes you light headed a little bit. But once you take it definently takes your pain away. But be careful they are known to be very addictive. Try taking a 1/2 of one. If the pain is still there within a 1/2 hour to 45 min later then take the other half. Just be careful the higher the number (5mg-10mg) the higher the potency.

How long after vicodin buzz until i can get drunk?

So i took like 3-4 vicodin last night and am planning on getting drunk tonight (24 hours later) am i mixing vicodin and alcohol to soon so its lethal? Or am i fine?

You can drink alcohol with vicodin (hydrocodone), as long as you didn’t take too much vicodin OR too much alcohol. Over time, it is hard on your liver, as most vicodin contains Tylenol, a horrible combination for your overall health and well-being. People love the buzz of a moderate amount of beer or wine along with vicodin, but be careful! That nice little buzz is very deceiving, and can really take it’s toll on your body. Dr. Drew on “Loveline” was just talking about vicodin last week, and was saying how addictive it really is, and how he’s seen people die from it. Three or Four is alot of vicodin, especially if you weigh under, say 200 lbs. That and a combination of alcohol can be potentially lethal. The consultation from a pharmacist will advise you not to take more 6-8 in a 24-hour period. It will be out of your system in 6 or 8 hours. Good luck! Don’t get hooked.
