What is some good food for someone recovering of a Vicodin overdose?

I had surgery a few days ago, and my doctor suggested I double my dosage of Vicodin to control the pain. I did, found out my body can’t handle that much, and I’ve been terribly sick since late Friday night. I think I’m finally coming out of this thing, but since I haven’t eaten/drank much in over 24 hours, I was thinking I should maybe consider some food. Any suggestions on what food might be good for this situation?

Chosen Answer:

It sucks and you have about 48 hours left of this. Just eat whatever will taste good coming back up cause no matter what you eat, you will get sick. Soups are easy to throw up.

Not making fun of you in any way, I did the same unfortunate thing once and its awful

get well

How soon can someone become addicted to Vicodin?

I’ve been taking Vicodin for three days for an injury to my face/nose. I’m still in pain, but I’m afraid to take too much Vicodin and become addicted. The doctor gave me 30 pills and I have about 15 left. Can a person become addicted that soon? Should I ask for something else for pain? Motrin 800 doesn’t help with the pain yet.
Actually, I have 12 pills left, so I’ve taken 18 pills in 3 days.

Chosen Answer:

Okay, calm down. In order to develop a dependence for an opiate drug you would have to be taking it constantly in high doses for at least a month. You can most certainly finish that entire bottle, whether it be in 3 days, or in a month and you will be fine. Vicodin is not a strong form of hydrocodone and will not make you become addicted fast. I am an X addict and trust me it takes many many more pills and much more time. You are safe.

How long to become addicted to vicodin?

I indulge two vicodin ES pills at once for depression. I wait at least a week, then take another two pills whenever I experience despair. Would it possible to become physically addicted taking them this seldom? I’ve only heard experiences of people taking them daily and becoming addicted. Also, is taking two vicodin ES at once safe as far as acetaminophen goes?

Chosen Answer:

See a doctor and get his advice. I hope this is a doctor’s prescription and if so ask him. If not, stop taking the drug and see one. It’s too dangerous to use drugs like that without medical advice.

What will work for pain/itch relief of shingles?

I was diagnosed with shingles last Wednesday and the doctor prescribed me Famvir and Lortab 7.5. I want to stop taking the Lortab because it’s making me constipated, but Tylenol isn’t going to do the trick. I’m allergic to ibuprofen and aspirin too, which really limits my options. The doctor told me not to put anything on the blisters.
So is there anything else that I could try for pain relief? They just started itching this morning (which is almost worse than the burning pain in my opinion.)
Oh, and my doctor is out of town and the doctor covering for him is terrible (bad experiences before with him) so I can’t exactly call asking for a different pain reliever.
Thanks for any advice/suggestions in advance!

Chosen Answer:

A little five year old boy, small for his age, that I look after, he had shingles, he was given medicine, but to help the itching, we put calamine lotion on the blisters, but also, got him to soak half an hour whenever he was really bothered in a bath of oatmeal, we got the Aveno kind, and it was great. :) It helped him a lot, and then we’d put more calamine lotion on afterwards. Wrapping a cold wet towel around the area will help as well as itching is often caused by the heat under the blisters. I hope some of these help! :)

How do you kinow if you are addicted to Vicodin?

I had a serious surgery on my foot 6 months ago and I have been taking Vicodin ever since. I know I still need it because my pain gets pretty bad sometimes when the medicine wears off. But, when the time comes and the doctor says I don’t need anymore, what’s going to happen to me?
I forgot to tell you that I am afraid to ask my doctor because he will think I need to get off of it and I’m not ready!

Chosen Answer:

If you feel that you need to take the vicodin to live. He should wean you off of it. Maybe you should see a pain management Doctor. 6 months is a long time for u to be still having alot of pain in that foot. Its possible that your body has become dependant on the vicodin. Which is different than addiction.
Addiction hapens when u take it when u dont need it, u take it for the high. Dependancy happens because u have been on it for so long and your body is used to having it. So that is what you will have. your doc. will need to wean you off slowly to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
I personally think u need a pain med that last longer than the vicodin, especially if u are having alot of pain in that foot. Could be u have some nerve damage. I suggest seeing a pain specialist.

There is good information about botox at www.romancing-the-soap.com If you want more info you can do what I did – get in touch with the website owner, a practicing health professional (a doctor, I think).

What pain relief tablets are good for trapped nerves in neck/shoulder. Please help?

My dad has had a bad shoulder since Wednesday, he went to the doctor on Thursday and he told him he had a trapped nerve and prescribed him Tramadol, but this has many side effects and doesn’t really numb the pain for him.
He is in a lot of agony so i wondered if anyone has experienced this and/or has any advice on pain relief and if you know what sort of time it could take to subside. I will pass on any answers
Thank you !

Chosen Answer:

Tramadol is a horrid drug and can cause side affects that are very unpleasant.
Often they will prescribe a mix of drugs for nerve pain which work much better but this involves prescription strengh Co codamol and others that take time to work. Which is why they Doctors go for a hard hitting one to start with.
Might actually get some relief from a painkiller that is an anti inflammatory as well. A pharmacist will be able to help you and advice you on the drugs sold from behind the counter.

In theory as it is a trapped nerve it should be a short term problem and is best relieved by being proactive and paying to see a physiotherapist or chiropracter as quickly as possible.

How long should I wait to take vicodin after taking adderall?

I took 40mg of adderall 3 hours ago and want to take 300mg of Vicodin. How long should I wait?

Chosen Answer:

If the adderall is long-acting you can take it now. if it is short acting it is good to wait a few hours after to take a pain meciation. One drug increases your heart rate and the other can decrease your heart rate.If you have never taken vicodin before it is good to wait till other medication is out of your system,in case of an allergic reaction.
Did the doctor know you were on the adderall when he ordered the pain medicine? Also you can contact your local pharmacist and ask him. I have taken meds for ADHD and pain at the same time and it was fine . As long as you have no reactions to either one (allergic reactions)it is o.k.
Hope you feel better!
