Is taking vicodin before a test unethical?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on February 15, 2012
My boyfriend is planning to take vicodin to help him focus on an important entrance exam for grad school.
I’ve told him I don’t think it’s right and unfair, but he’s convinced it’s as innocent as drinking coffee.
Thoughts?
Chosen Answer:
Is he addicted to vicodin? If not, that is a really, really stupid thing to do. It is a depressant. You may feel good, but you brain does not work as well. Certainly not ” innocent” , and a dangerous practice to start.

How long does it usually take for a person to get addicted to vicodin?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on January 27, 2012
I have been taking vicodin for two weeks now and I think I may be addicted to it. What can I do to help myself and how can my doctor help me? serious answers only please. Thank You!
Chosen Answer:
I’m a nurse. I would talk to the doctor about it. Your’e not far along as many people. You can simply chose not to take them. Most people take them for a very long time and later realize they have a problem. I think you are fine. It took you only two weeks and you realized, hey this could be a problem. My advice is to discontinue the use of it . You will later noticed that you caught the problem right before the addiction happened. Your’e fine, after all this isn’t what you wnat to do and your’e not in denial, that’s great. Be strong during this time, you can do it, I know you can.

When I take Vicodin, I get a feeling that relieves my social anxiety and my constant tiredness?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on November 29, 2011
And mild to moderate pain. However, before I become addicted, I have stopped taking them. I am looking for something over-the-counter that can help me relieve some of those problems, mainly the sad. Is there anything similar to Vicodin that is not as bad? A vitamin perhaps? Thanks.

What is the equivalent of vicodin and ibuprofen?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on November 23, 2011
My grandma broke her leg and is in a lot of pain. But will not take vicodin because she is afraid she will get addicted to it. But she takes a lot of ibuprofen. Isnt like 8 of them equal too one vicodin?
Whats the safest amount of them too take at once, since she wont take them?
Chosen Answer:
There is no equivalency for these two. Vicodin is a potent narcotic painkiller. No amount of ibuprofen will compare to its pain-relieving properties. Taking too much ibuprofen can result in GI tract bleeding along with a handful of other unpleasant symptoms. Although it is potentially addictive, as long as she uses it as supervised and ordered by her doctor, it is safe.

SIDE EFFECTS:
Side effects for Vicodin are most commonly upset stomach, nausea, and altered mental status (eg. dizziness, light headedness). Other more rare side effects include allergic reaction, seizures, clammy skin, severe weakness, dizziness, hyperventilation, unconsciousness, jaundice (yellowing of eyes or skin), unusual fatigue, bleeding, bruising, stomach pain, constipation, dry mouth, decreased appetite, muscle twitches, sweating, hot flashes, itching, tinnitus, hearing loss, decreased urination, and altered sex drive. Vicodin also has depressant effects on the central nervous system. However, some of the less mundane effects can be desirable effects that are sought after by some. Those effects include euphoria and drowsiness, as well as slowing of the pulse. Unlike NSAIDs, Paracetamol does not cause ulcers. Liver damage can manifest ranging from abdominal pain to outright liver failure, and can necessitate a liver transplant to avoid death. Paracetamol dosages should never exceed 4g a day; this is especially important and may be a smaller number when dealing with mixed drugs like Vicodin. It is imperative that users of this drug follow physician prescribed dosages.
ADDICTION:
Tolerance to this drug may develop rapidly, especially if it is misused. This tolerance will usually manifest itself by analgesic effects wearing off faster, and people needing higher dosages to reach the analgesic effects. It is commonly misused or used excessively because people take too much in order to relieve their pain faster. Taking more of the drug does increase its efficacy but it also increases its addictive properties. When tolerance does develop, people are often forced to seek out more and more Vicodin, but as it is a controlled substance, there are regulations on how much can be legally prescribed. This often leads to societal/legal consequences as people will visit many doctors and/or try to buy the drug illegally. The withdrawal effects of Vicodin include things such as insomnia, night sweats, tremors, and agitation. People looking for the secondary effects of the drug often abuse many forms of prescription drugs. Vicodin is a potentially addictive drug, specifically due to the hydrocodone in it.Some people have reported using hydrocodone-containing products to help them calm down and focus. There have been reports of severe hearing loss and deafness associated with the abuse of Vicodin. If taken at the normal prescribed dosages, the risk of hearing loss is very minimal. It is interesting to note that in people who use these drugs for recreational purposes there are sex differences. Women tend to feel less “in control on their thoughts” and more report, “feeling bad” more often than men. People given logic examinations while under the influence of this drug showed an increase in incorrect answers, but spent more time on the exams. This suggests that this drug may be aiding in attention. It is again important to note that clinically prescribed dosages

How much does Vicodin impair a persons thinking and actions?
My boyfriend is addicted to it.
He doesn’t have any pain, he just takes it because hes addicted to it.
Well hes my ex boyfriend now because he stole a lot of money from me
and jewelry too, including a ring from my 1st love.
ALSO: He is in prison for 10 years for running an Armed Robbery on his cousin.
*Answer from experience. Thank you.

Any type of drug addiction with make people do desperate things. Vicodin is a pretty mild drug, but highly addictive. I’ve had it before after a couple of minor surgeries. It puts you in a very happy place and makes everything dreamy. None of your problems (or the pain from having body parts removed) matter. I can see how it would be easy to get addicted to that high.
But eventually it becomes more about getting that high than the high itself, if that makes sense. They stop working so they can pursue the high. Then they have no money because they have no job, so they start stealing to feed that high. I’m so sorry that you have to go through this!
