Why would a drug screen show negative for Vicodin when I have taken several pills daily for 2 years?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on February 29, 2012
My brother has been taking Vicodin several times a day for 2 years for a herniated disc. The pain clinic he attends requires routine drug screening to make sure the pills are being taken and not sold on the street. He takes them, but for some reason he has failed every urine test they have given him. Any ideas?
Chosen Answer:
You can buy a drug screen test at any drug store. The tests that they have now are VERY positive, I would ask and find out if he is telling the truth about taking them and not giving them to friends or whatever. It sounds kind of fishy to me.

You should be fine. It’s okay for short term use, and I can’t imagine getting addicted to it while just taking it for a week or two.

Sterile water injections as pain relief during childbirth?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on February 25, 2012
Has anyone tried these? Apparently they inject sterile water in 4 different places in your back and it helps relieve labor pain. It is all natural and apparently an alternative to an epidural (which I know I don’t want). Anyone have any information on this form of pain relief? Any other pain relief measures you can recommend?
Chosen Answer:
I asked my doula about this, I found info on it after having back labor with my son. She doesn’t know of anyone in our metro area that does it, it has to be done by a doctor or midwife. The labor nurses aren’t trained in it and doctors/midwives don’t typically stick around during labor. If you had a home birth I think this might be an option assuming your midwife has been trained to do it.

What can I give my dog for pain relief?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on February 24, 2012
My dog was spayed and I picked her up this morning from the vets. Never thought to ask about pain relief. Is there anything I can give her? 6 months old.
Chosen Answer:
Call your vet; he will give you something. Do NOT ot6c medicate the dog after this surgery…Ask the vet…ASAP.

How can one live after drinking 190 proof alcohol mixed with red bull and vicodin?
Posted by Admin in Vicodin Discussion on February 23, 2012
My friend confessed to me about her drug and alcohol habit. She is petite and can’t weigh more than 110lbs, but she tells me that when she is depressed she drinks 190 proof alcohol mixed with Monster Energy and pops 1-2 vicodin pills.
I know that she can really put away liquor, but how is she still okay? Does this mean that she has built a high tolerance over time? Also, what can I do to help her as she is 22 and an adult?
Chosen Answer:
you could take her to see a drug counselor or you could tell her parents tell her of your concerns just because she is an adult doesn’t mean she still doesn’t need help getting through life. Ask her what makes her so depressed that she feels she needs to drink so much and use drugs. If you don’t help her now in reality the drug abuse can eventually start shutting down her organs and clearly she could eventually become immune which if she went to the er and needed help the drugs they give her might not work. sometimes people need a slap for a wake up call

Thank you to everyone who has so far helped with my report i’m very grateful.
I now need to hear from women who have had a natural child birth as well as a birth with medical pain relief it is so i can compare the two. I would appreciate e-mail addresses so I can send questions but understand if that’s not possible.

Did anyone go through labour and forget to get pain relief?
Posted by Admin in Pain Relief on February 18, 2012
I just wondered if anyone else found labour so distracting that they couldn’t think of anything else, including pain relief.
I really wanted to try gas and air and had planned to, and the midwife had some with her that I could have used if I had remembered it existed!
I was very quiet and very calm and totally in my own head, and totally just forgot that there was such a thing as pain relief.
Has anyone else done this? I know it sounds weird!
Chosen Answer:
i have seen many births and that is one thing NOBODY forgets even if they dont want it they know they can change their mind
